Bio

Name: Eiko Carol
Age: Six years old
Hometown: Madain Sari, Village of Summoners, Outer Continent
Race: Summoner Tribe
Job: White Mage/Summoner

Madain Sari, the Village of Summoners, was attacked and decimated four years before Eiko's birth by forces from the invading planet of Terra. This event was not well-known, as the more populated area of the world (the Mist Continent) had not yet mastered travel to other continents. Most of the Summoner Tribe perished during the attack, and only a few survivors remained, many of whom had lost the will to live. Eiko's parents, however, decided to try to start a new life together and begin a family.

Eiko was born on the same day as one of the village Moogles, Mog. Mog and Eiko grew up as best friends, and were always together. They even kept matching hair ribbons as a symbol of their friendship.

Eiko's parents sadly did not live long into their daughter's life, and the task of raising Eiko went to her grandfather. They lived in Madain Sari together with the remaining Summoners and the Moogles, but soon the two of them were the only Summoners remaining. Eiko's grandfather passed away when she was five, leaving Eiko alone with the Moogles.

As the last Summoner, Eiko had promised to remain in Madain Sari, tending to the Eidolon Wall (a large monument dedicated to all of the world's summon beasts) and guarding their secret treasure. She was also instructed not to leave the village until her sixteenth birthday.

She often bent the terms of her last promise out of hunger--Eiko could often be found sneaking into the nearby dwarven village Conde Petie to steal food. She was a decent thief; the dwarves knew that someone was stealing from them, but she was never caught, due to the fact that the dwarves would have had to chase her through a mountain path they considered holy--only newlywed couples were allowed to traverse that road.

One fateful day, she and Mog narrowly escaped the village, but wound up getting stuck hanging from a tree branch out on the mountain path. It was here she was discovered by Zidane and company. Quina cast a hungry eye upon her, and Eiko shrieked out that she didn't taste good. Zidane helped her down, and Eiko fell in puppy-love-at-first-sight. She asked Zidane and Dagger a few pointed questions about their relationship (getting very different answers from the two of them), and then joined them and Vivi in order to find Mog--who had been chased away by a hungry Quina.

The group escorted Eiko home, and on the way Dagger was astounded to see that Eiko could summon Eidolons, just as she could. (Dagger had never met anyone else with this power before) Once they reached the village, Eiko invited everyone else to stay for dinner. As the rest of the group explored the village, Eiko prepared a meal with the help of her Moogles, and Quina as well. Eiko also sees that while Zidane has a crush on Dagger, Dagger isn't really into it, and she decides to try to get between them.

The next day, Eiko guided the group to the Iifa Tree--the source of the Mist that they were investigating. The tree had been sealed away with an Eidolon, and Eiko (a little guiltily) broke the seal and gained the ability to summon the Eidolon Carbuncle.

When the group had defeated SoulCage at the bottom of the tree, they returned to Madain Sari, where Eiko saw, to her horror, that the jewel had been stolen. Confused, she ran to the Eidolon Wall for solace, but it was there that she became the hostage of Lani the bounty hunter, who was still chasing after Dagger, the runaway princess. Luckily, Eiko was freed when a competing bounty hunter insisted rather strongly that Lani not use hostages.

It took a lot of soul searching, but Eiko finally decided that it would be all right for her to leave Madain Sari in the care of the Moogles, so that she could travel with Zidane. She decided she would bring the jewel with her, so that her people would always be close at hand. After the showdown between Kuja and Queen Brahne at the Iifa Tree, Eiko traveled back to the Kingdom of Alexandria on the Mist Continent.

In Alexandria, Eiko recruited the princess' tutor, Doctor Tot, to help her write a love letter to Zidane. The letter never reached Zidane's eyes, but by a strange twist of fate, it may have ignited the flame of romance between Captain Steiner and General Beatrix.

The group soon goes to face Kuja, and wind up captive in his palace. As one group goes through Oeilvert, the other group is led by Eiko (unless you took her along to Oeilvert, but that's not exactly smart, since you can't use any sort of magic there) through Kuja's palace. Unfortunately for her, she's kidnapped by Zorn and Thorn and taken to the remote Mount Gulug, up on the Lost Continent. It is here that Zorn and Thorn prepare to extract the Eidolons from her--only this process will kill her, since she's only six and not strong enough to live through the ceremony.

Eiko is saved in the nick of time by Mog, who transforms into an Eidolon with holy power. Mog becomes her final Eidolon, and now that she has transformed, she can't stay with Eiko anymore. Still, she gives Eiko her ribbon to remember her by, and in spirit, they will always be together.

Eiko remains with the team until the endgame. When Zidane decides to go back into the tree to retrieve the wounded Kuja, Eiko is against it, but tells Zidane she loves him, and that he'd better come back. The airship then flies away.

At the very end, we see that Eiko has been adopted by Regent Cid and Lady Hilda of Lindblum; she even calls them "Mother" and "Father" now. One can only hope that when Zidane makes his reappearance, she's also all right with the romance between Dagger and Zidane--this is probable, since her feelings for Zidane were a crush coming from a six-year-old.
